Well, here we are with another Post-Racial America update, folks. I gotta tell you, things here are getting better and better with each passing year. Lemme see, I think this is year number three, no? Yes, it’s funny how far we’ve come in such a short period of time. Today, we have a Republican Congressional candidate from Florida doing his part to remind us of just how far we have come as a nation since that cold day in January back in 2009. You might remember, on that day in question, a Black man with a funny name of suspect religious faith took office for the first time in history. Since then, everything has changed, and racism is officially dead. So much so, that tofay, we’re depicting president Obama in political campaign ads as the captain of a slave ship. Yeah, imagine that! A Black man as the captain of a slave ship. Even more awesome, is that the slaves are white!!
This via Huffington Post:
Mark Oxner, a Republican congressional candidatefrom Florida, released a 39-second spot this week depicting the Obama administration as a slave ship.
The video features several men and woman on a boat–“The U.S.S. Obamaship”–discussing how “this ship” has given them various benefits, such as a bank bailout and “free health care for life.”
The video also includes shots of children rowing the boat while a man holding a whip watches closely.
“Let’s not enslave our children with debt,” Oxner says, as the boat heads towards the edge of waterfall. “It’s time to turn this ship around.”
Oxner said in a statement that this is the first of multiple ads he will be releasing as he vies for Florida’s 27th District.
I personally want to thank the campaign of Mark Oxner and the awesomely groovy people behind it for today’s post-racial moment. Not that long ago African Americans were slaves; so, it’s awesome to see that now in the age of Obama that in the interest of fairness, that the tables have turned. But of course, I’m pretty sure one of you will leave a comment nitpicking about whether it’s president Obama’s white side that’s the captain or not. Well, I hate to refer to the outdated and now useless one drop rule, but since it was the success of a Black man that created our post-racial bliss. I’m going to stick with the idea that it is his Black side that they’re
insulting celebrating as they seek to gain electoral support in this particular Florida district. This is yet another proud moment in history:
