Are you as shocked as I that the South Carolina legislature actually voted to remove the Confederate battle flag from its place of prominence on the grounds of the statehouse in Charleston, the capital of South Carolina? It could be my cynicism has increased as I have aged, but when South Carolina governor Nikki Haley first proposed to remove the flag in the aftermath of the cold-blooded murder of the Emmanuel Nine, I raised my brow somewhat incredulously; I have learned from experience that if something looks and sounds just a little too good to be true, then it probably is.

I have —we have— been down that road before, and as my grandfather was fond of saying, “It takes a fool to get kicked by the same mule twice,” and I am determined not to be that fool and get kicked a second time, again.

I reasoned that Governor Haley and her lot would make grandiose promises, and then wait for the statue of limitations to run out on our rage. However, they managed to prove me wrong.

But keep in mind that in arriving at the decision that the flag should be removed, Governor Haley and others like her proffered the notion that they simply had no idea of the extremity of the animus engendered by and contained in that antiquated symbol of the South.

Really? Did they not hear what so many of their constituents have been so adamantly proclaiming for so many years? Is it really possible that they did not know? Or did they just not care until now?

And many people are labeling this action and others like it across the South as progress even though nine innocent people had to unwittingly and unwillingly become martyrs for the cause.

confederate-flag-removal-south-carolina_640xThe urge to insert the oft-cited Malcom X quote—“If you stick a knife in my back nine inches and pull it out six inches, there’s no progress.”—almost overwhelms me, but it has been used so often and so carelessly as to be rendered trite, so I shall resist that urge, though it would be apropos.

But, seemingly word of this progress has not reached the grassroots because as I drove to the grocery this morning to pick up a bit of milk and honey so that I could proceed with preparing breakfast for my family, Confederate battle flags littered my piece of the Southern landscape as if they had sprung up overnight from ground thoroughly fertilized by bitter hatred and resentment.

Nevertheless, it is Friday morning the flag is down in South Carolina. I watched the ceremony, and when they were done taking down the flag, the honor guard charged with striking the flag, then even pulled up the whole pole.

Yet, the issue as to just what the flag represents remains very much a point of heated contention. The one group claims that the Confederate battle flag is nothing more than a symbol of Southern pride in Southern tradition and heritage. However, the other views the flag as a sign and symbol of abject racial hatred and strife.

And as strange as it may sound, though, both groups are correct. The problem, then, is that the former group has an unrealistically naïve—maybe even delusional—conception of the true nature of that tradition and heritage and all that they entail.

From what I have observed, within the American cultural imagination, the antebellum South has been romanticized as an extended scene from Gone with the Wind, one huge verdant, agrarian utopia dotted with stately mansions and sprawling plantations, peopled with noble, gallant gentlemen, genteel Southern belles, and happy, singing darkies, and animated by slow, sleepy afternoons on the front porch sipping lemonade or sweet tea, frequently punctuated by grand, elegant balls in the late evening.

I believe this to be the fantastical, allegorical scene motivating most Southerners who cling so ardently and desperately to the symbolism offered by the Confederate battle flag when they speak of their tradition and heritage. But this scene is mostly that—fantastical allegory.

In a society and culture completely permeated and enriched by the institution of slavery, only a small class of Southerners, an aristocratic class made up mostly of planters, even lived this way. Only this very small class of people got filthy rich on the labor of slaves.

The vast majority of Southern whites did not own slaves. In fact, the very institution of slavery made many—not all but many—of their lives even the more difficult. Across the South, slaves performed a wide range of tasks, from the artisanal to the most menial, which, for the majority of Southern whites not owning slaves, resulted in limited opportunity, depressed wages, and a lack of education.

There is no need to pay someone for labor when that same labor can be had without cost.

In a sense, this poor degraded class of whites were themselves victims of the system of chattel slavery. I guess it could be said that they, themselves, were slaves to and within that system. However, the aristocratic class masterfully stoked the fires of racial resentment by manipulating the white masses and laying the fault of their squalid poverty at the feet of the black slaves even as they grew rich off the free labor of these same slaves.

But when the aristocratic class that benefited most from that exploitative system saw that system threatened, it sounded the alarm. It excitedly and desperately sought out the white masses that it held in only the utmost contempt, and proclaimed, “They are threatening OUR way of life! They are threatening OUR very tradition and heritage. WE must do something!”

And the degraded white masses, elated to be finally included in the WE after being shut out and devalued for so long, answered resoundingly, “Yes, WE! WE must do something!”

See; that’s that slave mind.

With that, the aristocratic class united them under various iterations of the Confederate battle flag, now a symbol of their WE-ness, and marched them off to battle. And in the excitement and fervor of the initial rush of war as they proudly marched off to meet the common foe, inspired emboldened by chorus after chorus of “Dixie”, I can only imagine that many glanced up at that flag flapping in the Southern wind, and for that moment, felt immensely powerful.

However, had they taken a second to think, they might have realized that the very traditions and heritage they were marching off to protect actually subtended the system of oppression that kept its boot planted firmly on their neck. Had they just taken a second to think, they might have realized that they were also a slave to and within the institution they sought so vigorously to protect and prolong.

But that symbol, the Confederate battle flag, has served the exigencies of the ruling moneyed class well. During the heat of the Civil Rights Movement, the moneyed class broke it out again just to remind the white masses of the tradition and heritage at stake, and again the white masses enthusiastically responded without critically examining that tradition and that heritage.

Even now the white masses in the South have united in a state of ersatz rage in defending that flag as symbolic of the traditions and heritage of the old South even as this tradition and heritage have yet to be examined, and furthermore, they have failed to recognize the face of the current Southern moneyed class as just the latest iteration of the antebellum aristocracy that has managed to maintain its money and its power by drawing upon the same racial resentments and pitting the one group against the other.

And before we truly embrace the flag coming down as a sign of progress, consider the following caveats.

The murder of the Emmanuel Nine by that young son of the South who had cloaked himself in that revered symbol, the Confederate battle flag, embarrassed the Southern moneyed class, which is currently in the process of rebranding itself in an effort to attract international investment and getting some of that global money, and laid bare the contumelious meaning invested in that symbol making it a financial liability, so the rapid divestment in this symbol perhaps had more to do with the needs of capital rather than a sudden moral realization.

Not only that, and perhaps most importantly, have you considered that the absence of this symbol is even more powerful than its presence, and that in its absence it is even more efficacious in maintaining and reinforcing the old racial resentments and pitting one group against the other?

The most dangerous being on this earth is that being that finds itself cornered and feels it has nothing left to lose. That being will always strike back with a certain ferocious urgent desperateness, knowing no bounds.

And there are many across the South watching that flag come who feel exactly that way, as if all is lost, and they are being pressed into a corner. What will they be willing to do to fight their way out of this imagined corner?

Be careful standing behind this mule. Stay woke.

Lowering The Confederate Flag Forever

Removing the confederate flag is just the beginning. Let the work now begin to ensure that ALL residents of South Carolina have equal economic opportunities and access to quality education and healthcare. That is where the real battle is and it begins today. If you are complaining about the flag stop and ask yourself what exactly are YOU doing  to effect change. Hashtags don’t count for shyt neither do those that throw them up as some sign of activism. Those with nothing but scorn for the residents of South Carolina and the response surrounding  the removal of the flag do not understand the culture of  South Carolina and their arrogance gives way to disrespect that is not needed nor wanted. Serves no purpose and  the scorn serves only as a window to another level of ignorance.
Some of these overnight hashtag activists need to understand what it was like living with  that damn flag the equivalent of a confederate bat signal that served as a beacon of hate,  with the very real fear of what has been done under the name of that flag. Like the fools who claim what they would have done if they had been alive during slavery. What your arrogant asses would have done is been killed.
Instead of maligning the actions regarding the removal of the flag and casting aspersions about the events  surrounding it DO Something, donate, go volunteer, organize a group
Put in the actual work or shut the hell up….

Following the Charleston massacre, the State of South Carolina is finally going to take down the Confederate flag.  Yahoo News reports that:

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The South Carolina House approved a bill removing the Confederate flag from the Capitol grounds, a stunning reversal in a state that was the first to leave the Union in 1860 and raised the flag again at its Statehouse more than 50 years ago to protest the civil rights movement.

The move early Thursday came after more than 13 hours of passionate and contentious debate, and just weeks after the fatal shootings of nine black church members, including a state senator, at a Bible study in Charleston.”South Carolina can remove the stain from our lives,” said 64-year-old Rep. Joe Neal, a black Democrat first elected in 1992. “I never thought in my lifetime I would see this.”The House easily approved the Senate bill by a two-thirds margin (94-20), and the bill now goes to Republican Gov. Nikki Haley’s desk. She supports the measure, which calls for the banner to come down within 24 hours of her signature.

“It is a new day in South Carolina, a day we can all be proud of, a day that truly brings us all together as we continue to heal, as one people and one state,” Haley said in a statement.

That symbol of slavery, hatred, segregation and treason should have been removed years ago. It is a shame that nine innocent people had to die in order to finally get that hate flag removed. This is a great symbolic victory. However, we should not be pacified and deceived by symbols. The larger, more significant struggle continues. We must now bring down the Confederate mentality and its institutions.

Good evening readers. Like many of you, I have been reading the ongoing coverage of the Charleston, South Carolina church massacre. I’m not a Southerner, but my roots are in the South. My grandfather was from Beaufort, which Google tells me is no where near Charleston.  With that said, I’d like to offer my two cents on the confederate flag controversy that we find ourselves discussing right now.  In addition to seeing some of the predictable counter reactions to this, there has also been a discussion of removing the confederate flag from public display. The calls are getting louder, and have congealed into the #TakeItDown hashtag.

While it indeed is an honorable thing, in the wake of such a horrible act, its inadequate as a response. Why could not this have been done before? Furthermore, if we want to be technical, how does the American flag itself not represent a symbol of oppression? Saying that bigots can no longer display their flags in public just seems too easy and does nothing to remedy what occurred. If the calls for changes in the aftermath of this terrorist act go no further than the removal of the confederate flag from the public sphere, than it will amount to a symbolic, and facile victory. The seen and unseen anti-Black forces in this country should not be let off that easy.

confederate-flag_940xIt is now known that the white supremacist who influenced this murderer has donated money to a few Republican presidential candidates. Given the right wing rhetoric around “Taking our country back” it is not that hard to draw a direct line of accountability. What about how these sentiments are whipped up, day in and out? Its just not enough.

To those of you who feel like people making the claim that the confederate flag is akin to the swastiska is a reach, #wellactually no. The Nazi regimes eugenics program was inspired by study of the Jim Crow South. For more reading on that, you can visit here,here, and here.

So much madness occurs in relation to people at churches. One would think that a place as sacred as the church wouldn’t attract such hatred and civil disrespect. Such intolerance has occurred, however, when protesters camped out in front of a mosque in Arizona. And I thought things could not become any more racially tiresome. Damn, I hate when reality slaps the shit out of me with the facts.

Several people were killed in a shooting at a historic African-American church in Charleston,South Carolina, a source close to the investigation told CNN.

The shooter is still at large.

The shooting took place Wednesday evening at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. On its website, the church describes itself as the “oldest AME church in the south.”

“It’s really bad. It’s a very bad scene,” local pastor Thomas Dixon said.

“Apparently the person just entered the church and opened fire. That part has not been fully articulated on what happened yet … they are still looking for the suspect.”

Police haven’t yet said how many people have been shot. But the source who spoke to CNN said several bodies were in the church that were yet to be identified.

Police said the suspect in the shooting is a clean-shaven white man in his 20s, with a slender build. He was wearing a grey sweatshirt, blue jeans and boots. [1]

At the moment that I am writing this blog (11:35 p.m. on June 17, 2015), they did not apprehend the suspect. So, this person is still at large. This killer is still out there either hiding, planning, or laid out somewhere due to self-inflicted wounds. The scariest thing is that no one knows where he is.

Charleston and the Audacity of Insanity

Lately, Charleston has been struggling with racial unity. If we haven’t forgotten, this is the same city in which Walter Lamar Scott was shot and killed by a Thomas Slager [2]. And this wasn’t some isolated incident of “mistaken situation” or “a cop protecting his life”. In this situation, the entire ordeal was captured on camera. Thus, we have to remember that Charleston isn’t the city of “racially harmony”.

Then again, South Carolina has its own troubling racial history. You see, Charleston was one of the biggest hubs of slavery [3]. It was the wealthiest of the thirteen colonies and Charleston was the wealthiest city because of slavery. Ironically, the town remained in fear due to the possibility of slave revolts. So, racism in Charleston can’t be too surprising when there is a history of racial parity in existence.

And if anyone feels that I am recalling “ancient history”, let me reassure you that these old feelings haven’t been fully let go. How can these beliefs disappear in the town that houses the Confederacy Museum? Is it surprising that violence against Blacks happen in a state that supports the Palmetto Republic? When The League of the South comes to town, aren’t they heavily supported? Let’s get real, people: South Carolina, just like America, is racist as fuck.

All of this leads back to this present situation of a mass shooting of AME church members. People can label the shooter “a lone insane shooter” or “a crazy man”. That may be true. But I find it hard to believe that this wasn’t nothing more than a crazed man doing something racially motivated. With the history of this city, state, and nation, it will be hard to convince me otherwise.

Charleston Church Shooting Summarized

Charleston has the spirits and demons of racism drenched within its DNA. This shooting, as isolated as it seems, is a result of the racial contention that this city has dealt with. Yet, history shows that it all starts from the top. South Carolina is racist as hell just like theUnited States is. In the end, history will only repeat itself until our society pushes for better alternatives.

The Dominican Republic isn’t the only working on “ethnic cleansing”.

The murder of Walter Scott which most of you have viewed via video taken by one incredibly brave individual speaks to so many things but strikes at the heart of a long held societal belief that has framed not only the way that people view each other but also has shaped the American justice system.

It is a long held belief that a person who is defined as good is one who has a “good” job, has a family (is married), goes to church regularly, and gives back to his community via actual work or donations to charity.

To dial down deeper, a person who is a “professional” ie a lawyer, doctor, CEO, or anything on that level is considered by society at large and more relevant our justice system to be above reproach. This plays out in our courts every day. A person accused of a crime who falls into one of those categories is not treated the same way as a person who is unemployed, on public assistance, or even works at what society deems a menial job. Bail may be denied, probation may be withheld simply because an individual is not deemed a “productive member of society” via a construct that on its face does not take into consideration whether it is a viable definition for everyone to ascribe to or be measured by. In worse case scenarios, entire municipalities may feel justified in generating revenue by aggressively targeting their own residents by targeting them by law enforcement with punitive and discriminatory application of existing laws that result in fines that can never be fully paid off and or jail time that in and of itself impairs the ability of the individual to ascend into that “productive member of society” status.The belief that somehow a person who has not followed a certain approved “path” in their life makes them somehow worth less than others who have managed to travel a different path for whatever reason is stock in trade and allows for the branding of an underclass of people much to the detriment of society as a whole. Feeling justified in actions that result all too often with the death of an individual because they were “no good” to begin with.  This drives the need to dredge up the background of a victim to somehow “justify” actions that would never even be condoned in any other situation. There is a long held belief and perception that good people don’t make mistakes that their lives are a reflection of that. The things that they are able to acquire, a home, new car, material things somehow make them BETTER, whereas those who have not been able to obtain outward signs of achievement, who have not risen to the level of a professional, who may be unemployed, or even who may have at one time in their lives been in carcerated, are automatically less than human, less deserving of compassion or understanding. I feel like I’m writing the same article over and over again whenever a black person’s life is cut down by a cop whose usual excuse is that he was protecting himself even though he was armed and his victim wasn’t. Such is certainly the case in my home state of South Carolina when another brother left this word violently by a negrophobic-apparent cop.

In a neighborhood in North Charleston, Officer Michael Slager shot five out of eight rounds into Walter Scott, a black male who was running away at the time. He got shot in the back five times. He was apparently unarmed when he died at the scene.

Slager, like almost all cops in similar incidents, said that he feared for this life. If there’s one thing most cops, especially white cops fear and hate the most is a black man, including those of the unarmed variety. Slager said that Scott tried to reach for his stun gun during a scuffle at a traffic stop. But a video has surfaced showing the murder from start to finish questioning the police report.

The New York Times reports:

“The shooting unfolded after Officer Slager stopped the driver of a Mercedes-Benz with a broken taillight, according to police reports. Mr. Scott ran away, and Officer Slager chased him into a grassy lot that abuts a muffler shop. He fired his Taser, an electronic stun gun, but it did not stop Mr. Scott, according to police reports.

Moments after the struggle, Officer Slager reported on his radio: “Shots fired and the subject is down. He took my Taser,” according to police reports.

But the video, which was taken by a bystander and provided to The New York Times by the Scott family’s lawyer, presents a different account. The video begins in the vacant lot, apparently moments after Officer Slager fired his Taser. Wires, which carry the electrical current from the stun gun, appear to be extending from Mr. Scott’s body as the two men tussle and Mr. Scott turns to run.”

Slager has been fired and charged for the murder of Scott.

Some say that the video is what led to the firing and charging of Michael Slager. They say that if the video didn’t exist, Slager would’ve gotten off lightly with probably a suspension or some other light sentence. Given the history of white cops killing black men and have gotten nothing more than a tap on the wrist, I’d say that this case will likely go in favor of Slager. It’s sad to assume it will happen, but remember where we live. We stay in America where the killing of a black person means nothing to society and even less to cops who hate and fear black folks.

Recently, I’ve been getting a heavy influx of people, some claiming to be black, that deny that racism is a significant problem in this nation. I can only guess that they would likely blame Walter Scott for his own death. If he had been more of a “respectable” man, he would’ve been alive today.

walter-scottThe main argument I seem to get are that black people are “too wild”. We seem to be entrenched in this killer criminality plague that is responsible for half the murders in this nation, or so the argument goes. Yet, no one has been able to come up with an explanation as to why that’s so, but one logical cause they won’t accept is white supremacy.

Some people can’t or won’t fathom that this is still a racist society. They don’t seem to comprehend that racism has taken on the form of a complex monster that is still out for colored blood. Why are so many black people getting killed by cops? Is it because black people are out of control and deserve what they get? Or is it due to the police’s psychological fear and disdain for black life that can not be explain in a few words?

As we witness, Walter Scott, another black man dying at the hands of a white cop, as we watch the gruesome video, some people will not accept this as probable proof that racism exists. They will boil this down to an isolated incident, even though it’s part of a long chain of “isolated incidents”, each strikingly so similar. When people continue to deny racism of this caliber, you can best believe that the slaughter of black folks by white cops will continue.

I get the feeling that there’s a competition between the Carolinas. Given recent legislation set to disenfranchise minority voters in North Carolina — arguably the most progressive state in the south — the Tar Heel state has been giving its neighbor to its south a run for their money. But as racist fuckery would have it, South Carolina is, well, still South Carolina. We’ve written many stories on this site that highlights the douchebagery of the Palmetto State over the years. And of course in true fashion, the following is yet another example of why South Carolina, the first state to secede from the Union back in the say, isn’t too kind to the melanin-challenged. Oh, and just i case you don’t believe me, just ask the rapper DMX who has had a couple run-ins with the law in South Carolina recently. According to the following report, a group of black patrons were kicked out of a South Carolina restaurant because a white patron felt uncomfortable being close to them.

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) – Michael Brown says he was celebrating his cousin’s last day in Charleston last month at Wild Wing Cafe in North Charleston. He says after his party of 25 waited two hours for a table, the shift manager told them there was a “situation.”

“She said there’s a situation where one of our customers feels threatened by your party, so she asked us not to seat you in our section, which totally alarmed all of us because we’re sitting there peaceably for two hours,” explains Brown. “Obviously, if we were causing any conflict, we would have been ejected out of the place hours before.”

Brown says while he was talking to the shift manager, someone in his group began videotaping the conversation. Brown says that’s when the manager became upset and refused to seat them.

“I asked her I want to be clear with you,” says Brown. “I said so you’re telling me I have to leave. She said I have a right to deny you service. I said so you’re asking me to leave because you’re upset because he was recording you, after we’ve waited for two hours, and after you’ve already pretty much discriminated on us, and she answered yes.”

Brown says several calls were made to the corporate office in Mt. Pleasant, but he says they did not receive a call back, so he took to Facebook with this post Thursday.

I will never go to Wild wings cafe in N. Chs again! We (Party of 25 family and friends) waited 2hrs, patiently and were refused service because another customer (White) felt threatened by us. This type of racial discrimination is unacceptable and we have to put a STOP TO IT. The manager looked me dead in the face and said she was refusing us service because she had a right to and simply she felt like it. That caught the restaurant’s attention.

“We got alerted through social media, so we always encourage our customers to respond to us or to comment on our social media pages,” says Debra Stokes, the chief marketing officer for Wild Wing Cafe.

Representatives for Wild Wing Cafe say they immediately responded and spoke to Brown.

“We had a conversation,” says Stokes. “It was a really good conversation. He and many of his family and friends were there about a month ago, and they are regular customers of ours. So, they were having a going away party, and they just didn’t receive the experience that they have come to know and love.”

Brown says an apology was offered and a free meal for the entire group, but he says he’s not completely satisfied.

“We weren’t coming there for a free meal. When we came there that night, we were coming to patronize the business. This is not a situation where you can just give us a free meal and everything is ok because it’s deeper than that.” (source)

I hear you, brother — a free meal ain’t gonna cut it. If anything, sounds like maybe cutting a check might be the thing to do. What sucks about that, however, is having to split said check between the 25 people who were refused service. Yep, especially when you know that there were at least a few in the party who were freeloading and didn’t have money to pay for jack anyway. C’mon, y’all, you know how we black folks roll. I’m only half kidding, but chances are they weren’t going to tip.

But seriously, what’s the odds of something like this happening to a group of 25 white folks which includes Bubba, Merle Sue, and cousin Skeeter n’em down in South Carolina if the gentleman in the story above felt threatened? Do you think that group would be refused service? In all fairness, I hate sitting anywhere close to large groups of patrons at restaurants. For me, it has nothing to do with race or the fact that some black people are extremely loud and that I don’t do ratchet very well and everything to do with me getting what I pay for. Call me uppity, but I hate being seated next to a large group of patrons especially when the spot is tight and I am made to feel like I have people from another table sitting in my lap. personal feelings aside, maybe they were kicked out because one of them looked like DMX or something. I mean, all black people look alike, no?

Not to belabor a point, but let’s follow-up on what I wrote yesterday in response to Richard Mourdock’s ridiculous comment. Yes, let’s take another look at the idea that a woman becoming pregnant as a consequence of being raped needs to succumb to “God’s will,” and as such, should not be allowed to legally have an abortion. As I noted yesterday, there are many who support this Mourdock’s stated opinion; and, many are coming to his defense. That said, in an attempt to make the idea of a woman being raped all the more real, let’s meet 37-year-old, Tiana Stevens.

I came across Stevens’ story via News One. The article they did was heart wrenching, but it could not have come at a better time. I say that because as my wife and I discussed, it’s easy for people and politicians like Mourdock to discuss rape and incest without having been victimized themselves; or, without have any close and personal experience with anyone who has actually been through such a horrific experience. But, with women being sexually assaulted every 45 seconds here in the United States; and, with 1 in 15 sexual assaults resulting in pregnancy, rape is very real, folks.

So yes, let’s take a look at one woman’s story. That’s right, meet Tiara Stevens, a rape survivor and single mother to her son who also happens to be her brother. Yep, Tiara was sexually assaulted by her father repeatedly when she was 12-years-old, and gave birth to, well, her brother.

Now, can you imagine giving birth to a child as a result of an incestuous relationship with your father? I know, it’s still hard for me to imagine a man doing that to his daughter. But hey, it happens; and yes, for Tiara and many others, this is very real. Now for many of you, the fact that she had the baby is awesome; yes, at least the kid will have a shot at life and becoming something or somebody; yep, he may just be the next Barack Obama. But in your eternal optimism, can you say that it was worth it? If you had the option of having an abortion as opposed to giving birth to a baby with a slew of medical problems as a result of your father’s sickness, would you still do it?

Would you really be willing to go through it?

Unfortunately for Tiara, she didn’t have that option. As she stated in the video above, she had no idea she was pregnant until the baby was born. But I have to wonder, what if she knew? What if she knew she was pregnant, would she want to willingly go through a pregnancy and deliver a child fathered by her father at 13-years-old? I think we can all agree that at that age, life is pretty much complicated as is. Why then would a young woman want to burden herself with the emotional scar of giving birth to her father’s child? Should she too in her not-yet-formed adult mind accept her circumstance as “God’s will,” and her child as a “gift” from God? As a parent, can you honestly say that it would be?

Tiara Stevens was raped by father when she was 12-years-old and became pregnant — yeah, God gave her the gift of a bouncing baby boy. What’s really awesome, is that she didn’t have an abortion and gave birth to her brother… eww… who quite naturally has a host of medical problems and is blind.

Having said that, I wonder how many of you “believers” are still of the opinion that a woman (or girl) conceiving a child when raped is still a “gift” from God.? I’m only asking because if this is a blessing, then maybe abortion should be illegal and not an option for women who through no fault of their own, are victimized…. oops, I meant blessed by God. I mean, am I wrong, or am I wrong? Oh well, you can watch Tiara’s full interview below. Yep, pay attention to the part where she said her father found out she was pregnant when the baby kicked while he was having sex with her.
