The imaginary assault on religion is a shallow rallying cry driving by mass marketing gurus to foster derision against an un-expensive presidency. President Obama is managing to slightly better abide by the constitutional and legal restrictions on religion than our expensive republican candidates.Trying to run a country based on a book of fiction is not going to manage the country the best or even most effective way.A make believe god does not sound like any kind of valid argument for how to manage the needs of an entire nation. Looks like another reason for even more people to leave the church.

If you believe in the Bell Curve “science” then there’s a very strong possibility that you’re just as racist as the author who wrote it; and, the Conservative think tank that funded it. But hey, there’s a new study linking low I.Q. to racism and prejudice. You might want to check that out so you don’t prove those that “science” to be correct.

While he’s dealing with the Witnesses, I wish he’d do something about Mormon missionaries. I want to see Mitt Romney cry like John Boehner.

And yeah, but I’m pretty sure that making a change that takes someone else’s position into account *without giving anything up* is brilliance, not caving. We all know the religious right’s agenda wasn’t really protecting the religious freedom of Catholic universities not to do what many of them were already doing. But now I’m wondering what the agenda of some of my fellow lefties was. If the goal was protecting women’s access to contraception, they should be dancing in the streets. If goal was sticking it to religion, then yeah, he failed them–but I’m okay with failing at stupidity.

Of course, if the goal is to criticize everything this president does, then any policy would make them happily unhappy.

I’m not saying that’s the goal. I’m just saying that, if he hadn’t changed the policy, they’d have been saying “We wanted him to stand firm, but this is political suicide. He’s going to drag the whole Democratic slate down with him.”
