Oh brother. He is also the first president to want to campaign to a Join session of congress. It isn’t that he is black, it is that he is incompetent. Don’t you get it yet? You demean yourself with this tired old repetitive oh so transaparent mantra. Obama already said he will speechify us with the following:

Williams: Let’s talk about another topic that’s part of the firmament here and everywhere. And that’s the economy. The New York Times said this weekend, “President Obama has another new plan on the economy. Now would be a good time to find out about it.” Do you have anything new on the economy? And while you’ve been away, we had a horrible GDP number last month.
Obama: Well, look, we–we anticipated that the recovery was slowing. The economy is still growing, but it’s not growing as fast as it needs to. I’ve got things right now in–before Congress that we should move immediately. And I’ve said so before I went on vacation, and I’ll keep on saying when I–now that I’m back.

Actually he said that guess when? Last year August 29th and about a dozen times since and he will say the same thing again next week. One thing he forgot though is those bills that congress was holding up before his last vacation…didn’t exist, he never submitted any. Hmmmm funny we still don’t have a budget either since he has been in office.

Yeah, it must be because of his skin color..and it has nothing at all to do with his competency.

he sent a request, he didn’t demand. He gave Boehner every chance to show the people that yes jobs are important to the republicans, and what has happened the republicans took the bait and made a PUBLIC stink about when the presidents speech would be.

The incompetence would be Boehners, if anything he should have moved the date up. If he wanted to “trump” the president HE would have called congress back and said, “Jobs are important to the American people so Mr. President exactly what do you have to say?” Just because you CAN do something doesn’t mean you should, a small loss after a petty fight over the debt ceiling can actually be a huge political gain when once again it seems PARTY is more important than country. Are all of those republicans going to be at the debates? No than in actuality Boehner has no need to deny the request.

Some times a good old round of “shoot me now, no shoot me” is the best way to get a simpleton to screw himself. The GOP held the country hostage on the debt ceiling fight, the GOP threaten medicare, The GOP has yet to introduce a Jobs bill that won’t give even more money to the rich without actually creating a single job. The President has been making a constant theme “the American people voted for DIVIDED government not BROKEN government” it’s a primary fight where most of the party is unenthusiastic about the participants exactly what was gained by Boehner pushing the date back? Hell if nothing else by being on at the same time as the President the republican candidates would have had red meat to throw to their crowd, instead now the president can answer their baseless charges and still go forth with his jobs plan.

Right. But he knows they don’t like him, to put mildly. =)
So when he asks for the meeting, they can say yes or they can say no.
If yes, well fine. If no, then what was his next move? That’s the part that’s missing imo. By letting Boehner veto the meeting he ceded another little bit of respect. He’s dealing with a wolfpack and he’s coming across like a poodle. Where is the ability to say “I’m the President and this is when I’m talking to Congress, dammit!!!!”

It’s a difficult position but he knew the job was tough when he took it.

I hear you; however, this is the office of the presidency; it requires more respect than displayed by the GOP in this instance. There’s supposed to be a jobs crisis – one which Boehner and company though having done nothing to rectify, keeps asking:”where are th4e jobs Mr. President?” This conflict should have been ironed out privately and not made to be the spectacle that it was. But like I said: he is the first Black president, and he is also the first president to ever be denied such a request. Sure it can be said it’s “his” fault. But he didn’t choose to be born Black either.
