I am very saddened by this case. I want to know what will happen to her. Either she will be brutalized constantly, locked away for “protection”, or a combination of the two. It’s so very sickening.

Thank you a million times over for this information and for writing this piece. There’s just… so much WRONG in this case. CeCe has had to suffer doubly… for not receiving proper justice and for having to navigate the trials and tribulations of being a transgender woman of color in prison. This is all sorts of f*cked up. :-s

I know. None.
I had been wanting to write for CeCe (and others, but specifically her) for quite sometime, and whilst writing this post, I realized why I hadn’t: it brought out so much emotion. I kept teeter-tottering between angry and just…sad. It’s just…fucked up. And the problem is that we have no remedy (other than giving her the initial justice she should have had, and therefore not charging her.)Thanks for the compliment! Means a lot – I’m going to DM you on twitter in a sec, some things that can’t be posted here.

Wonderful article, by the way. I worked with Seton Law School Center for Social Justice for three years doing Pro Se litigation research and preparation for inmates fighting on their own behalf.
The average inmate story is damming, add a layer of color, class and gender and what you have is…..
