All I’ll say is this: celebrity has a lot of pull when it comes to protecting folks valued by the media. R Kelly has been in dozens of cases for sexual misconduct with minors that everyone sweeps under the rug just so they can rush to the store and buy his next album. It’s not that hard then, when considering we’re looking at a person who’s the face of the idyllic black middle-class patriarch in virtually every American’s mind, to see why people are having such a tough time accepting that a dude well-known for infidelity in his private life may have also been a serial rapist. Then there’s that bit about the illegitimate child he had who tried to extort him some years back.

Cliff Huxtable will always be a positive symbol; who that figure is and what he represents is entirely separate from the person portraying him. The audience, of course, has difficulty acknowledging this disconnect and as usual has put Cosby on a pedestal like so many others who can never live up to their lofty expectations. They’ve just released records of receipts from money Cosby spent on some of these women, none of whom can do anything legal to Cosby now. Only the most recent one to accuse him so far was able to settle with him; the others have been speaking out for a while. It’s not looking so speculative any more.

Exactly, and I may have done just that in the article, drew conclusions based on the news alone. (I didn’t intend to do so) A lot people I’ve talked to can’t seem to process that a black man would get away with that during an overtly racist time period where if you are so much as even suspected of raping a white woman, you would get got. Cosby must’ve had a lot of pull and support, or the accusations are false. It’s hard to believe who anymore, especially without solid evidence. But it’s true that some of the ones we look up aren’t worthy of such admiration. And even if Cosby is innocent, we can’t forget his contempt for poor black folks.

I read this article & I can’t say whether it not it’s true but I will say this.. Rapist, murderers, pedophiles, etc don’t come with a logo tattooed on their 4 heads.. They acquire victims thru a certain process. Being kind caring, helpful, trustworthy & even funny & fun 2 b around… In most cases it’s called grooming. We as black ppl hate 2 hear bad things about our supposedly black role models, it’s sad & hurtful. But if he was white would we all have so much doubt?? We should understand we don’t know these ppl on TV that we look up 2.. We r only familiar with their characters. Yes black ppl have been thru some very unjust & unfair situations throughout history, but some things are real & true regardless of whom it’s about our how much it hurts. So it’s best 2 not pass judgment on victims or the accused until all the facts r on the table. #justmythought
